the Hagia Sophia church built in the Byzantine era in 537, Justinian who wanted to make the capital of the Orthodox world. 
Through its unique dimensions (nave 70 meters wide, with the largest dome in the world at 30 meters in diameter and 40 windows), Hagia Sophia inspired the architecture of mosques and Saint Peter's in Rome 1000 years after which echoed as the capital of the Christian world. Paradoxically, at the same time it was converted into a mosque. 
You should also visit the Basilica Cistern, Byzantine superb book, and the Blue Mosque, while excess with its thick pillars and its six minarets wanting equal Mecca, domes and semi-domes pierced with 250 windows radiating light and of course the palace Topkapi, whose architect Sinan looking more serenity than ostentatious luxury.
